BONE GRAFTING:

In the past, treatment for gum and periodontal disease was usually resective surgery, which was often painful. Today, Periodontists can restore or regenerate lost bone and attachment around teeth that have been subject to long-standing periodontal diseases. Moreover, if a tooth is lost due to trauma or disease, dentists can now restore or regenerate bones, even before bridges and implants are fixed.

Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR)
This refers to procedures that regenerate or restore the lost periodontal structures (periodontal ligament and connective tissue attachment) that support teeth. This is done using biocompatible membranes (GORETEX, Bio and sometimes both) with bone grafts.

Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR)
This refers to procedures that regenerate bones prior to the placement of bridges or implants, through bone grafts or bone substitutes (Bio-oss, Pepgen, TCP, etc.) and a biocompatible membrane that provides space for the bone to grow.

Alternative Brushing
a. Height and width of the bone can be increased.
b. Voids in bone can be anatomically filled.
c. Periodontal pocket depth can be reduced.
